Many assume liberal arts graduates face limited career prospects, but Habib University challenges this narrative. Novaira Khan, class of 2020 and a HUTOPS scholar, exemplifies this impact. Inspired by her grandfather and driven to serve, she pursued Social Development and Policy, gaining interdisciplinary skills and empathy that helped her clear the Civil Service exams on her first attempt. Today, she serves Pakistan in the Audit and Accounts Service, demonstrating how a Habib education transforms passion into meaningful public impact.
Breaking Barriers and Expanding Women’s Digital Agency
Arooma Naqvi, SDP Class of 2021, is transforming digital inclusion for women in Pakistan. As Program Manager at CaterpillHERs, she designs initiatives that empower women to navigate technology, build online businesses, and claim digital agency while addressing gendered barriers. Her Habib education, with its interdisciplinary focus and practical training in program design, equipped her to tackle systemic challenges, from TFGBV to financial literacy. Through research, policy insight, and on-the-ground impact, Arooma is redefining women’s empowerment in the digital era.
Advancing Global Scholarship on Faith, Gender, and Dialogue
Habib University proudly appoints Professor Marcia Hermansen to the Lady Fatima Endowed Faculty Chair in Women and Divinity, the first of its kind globally. A distinguished scholar in Islamic Studies, interfaith dialogue, and comparative religion, Professor Hermansen brings expertise in History, Literature, Philosophy, and Religious Studies. Housed within the Comparative Humanities program, the Chair advances interdisciplinary research on women and divinity, amplifying often-overlooked contributions, fostering dialogue, and embodying Habib’s mission of reparative education to reshape perspectives on faith and gender worldwide.
Reuniting, Reflecting, and Rekindling Connections: Habib’s Growing UK Alumni Network
On 24 August 2024, Habib University’s UK alumni gathered in London for an evening filled with laughter, networking and nostalgia. Eighteen graduates – some travelling from across Britain – reconnected under one roof to share career insights and fond memories of campus life. This was the community’s second London meet-up (following an inaugural summer 2022 reunion), reflecting the rapidly growing alumni network. With campus-themed trivia, warm conversations and family members joining in, the event celebrated enduring friendships and reinforced a strong sense of home and support within the Habib community.
Philanthropy in Action: UK Donors Unite to Expand Access to Higher Education in Pakistan
In March 2024, London hosted the inaugural fundraising dinner for The Habib University Trust UK, bringing together Pakistani-British philanthropists and alumni around a shared cause. From Karachi to Exeter: Expanding Global Pathways for Habib University Students
Building global bridges, Habib University recently launched a partnership with the UK’s University of Exeter to deepen educational exchange. Under this “4+1” progression pathway, qualifying Habib graduates receive automatic admission into Exeter’s one-year Master’s programmes in Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. The agreement also includes dedicated scholarships for these students, ensuring that academic talent can flourish abroad.
